Northview Church’s West Lafayette campus Lead Pastor, Robbie Stewart, stressed that approximately 40 percent of Northview’s West Lafayette campus attendees fit in the 20- to 30-year-old age range. However, all the church’s separate life groups prohibited these people from really getting to know one another. From there, 20/30 was born.

The 20/30 group encourages 20- to 30-year-olds to get together, get to know one another and encourage each other in their individual spiritual walks with Christ.

Brandon and Lauren Kimura, Lauren Hight and Robbie Stewart – all organizers of the adult 20/30 group for singles and married people at Northview Church’s West Lafayette campus – saw a need and worked to bring these life groups together into one large group.

The purpose for the 20/30 group, according to Brandon, “was to create a way for different life groups to come together once a month and hang out, as well as attract individuals in their 20s and 30s who are not currently in a life group to join a life group.” They strongly encourage both couples and singles to join this particular ministry.

The “fantastic four” also wanted to encourage others who had not found a life group to join the 20/30 group to give them a sense of belonging and family within Northview’s much larger family of attendees and members.

The 20/30 group focuses on Bible study and social events. Tentatively, they’ll schedule one get-together each month, including some social events and service projects. For example, they have currently lined up an Oscars viewing party and an NCAA bracket party.

Brandon said the group encouragement is the group’s strongest point. Along with their regular social events, the group also intends to work on service projects together and hopes to expand on the projects and events.
